NOTE:
On January 1,
2003 the USAand many
countries around the world have implemented the “Kimberley
Process” established by world governments and the diamond
industry to eradicate the trade in conflict diamonds. All of our loose diamonds and gemstones used in
our engagement rings, earrings and jewelry are purchased form
legitimate sources in compliance with the United Nations
resolution. We do not and will not ever buy or sell conflict
diamonds.
Four
main factors determine the value of diamonds.
They are: Size (Carat weight), Cut, Color and Clarity.
Often they are referred to as the "Four C's".
GIA
introduced its Diamond Grading System in 1953 to assess
the quality of each diamond. GIA (Gemological
Institute of America) is a non-profit organization that
grades only natural loose diamonds, and discloses any
detected evidence of treatments on their Grading Report.
#1 Diamond Source sells only GIA certified loose diamonds.

How to Buy Loose Diamonds.
A
loose diamond's weight is expressed in carats.
Carat weight is the easiest of the four C's to determine. To get the exact weight,
however, the diamond must be loose. One carat is divided into 100 "points"
so that a diamond of 50 points is described as a half carat in size, or 0.50 carat.
Within common weight ranges, there is little or no variation in per-carat
price.
